Outcomes
The purpose of Sound Future is to catalyze public involvement in the protection and restoration of Puget Sound, engaging citizens in implementing the Puget Sound Partnership’s Action Agenda. This results-oriented program will carefully monitor progress and report measurable impacts.
When fully funded, Sound Future will ensure that:
- Residents and coastal businesses implement best management practices for protecting Puget Sound critical areas and improving water quality.
- Hundreds of citizen scientists provide the information they collect for use in scientific research, monitoring and decision-making processes of local, state, tribal and federal agencies in Puget Sound.
- Puget Sound residents contribute volunteer hours to public service activities such as beach clean-ups, restoration and education through Beach Watchers and other volunteer programs.
- University faculty and students translate science into useful information, increasing public understanding and support for science-based action to protect Puget Sound.
